Mărțișor – Symbol and Tradition Fair, 8th edition

Period: 25 February – 1 March

Location: Union Square – Iași

Organisers: “ART – Meșteșugurile Prutului” Association, the Ethnographic Museum of Moldavia

 

The fair celebrates Mărțișor, the string made of two threads – one red and the other red, twisted and knotted, to which a silver/silver-like coin was later added – offered on the 1st of March, believed to provide protection, to ensure a safe passage from winter to spring, to bring health, prosperity and beauty. More than 30 craftspeople have been invited to participate to this fair, to share their knowledge with the visitors, through demonstrations and workshops.
